You may need to meet additional requirements if you鈥檙e applying to 兔子先生 as a student in one of the following categories:

College and university transfers (advanced standing students)兔子先生 Chevron

Advanced standing uses a number of relevant postsecondary credits from recognized and accredited institutions and/or relevant life/learning experience toward course exemptions in a student鈥檚 兔子先生 program that places the student in a semester beyond their first.

If you鈥檙e applying to 兔子先生 from another institution to a level greater than Level 1, you must complete your聽application, then contact ontariocolleges.ca at聽1.888.892.2228聽and indicate the requested level.

What is Level 1?

Starting levels indicate the year and semester in which you want to start a program. For example, Level 1 is the first semester of the first year, Level 2 is the second semester of the first year, Level 3 is the first semester of the second year, and so on.

International students兔子先生 Chevron

Internationally trained students兔子先生 Chevron

Unlike international students, internationally trained students are Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have studied abroad.

Mature students兔子先生 Chevron

Mature applications to postsecondary certificate and diploma programs

Applicants who are age 19 or older by the program start date and do not possess a high school diploma (OSSD) or the equivalent, you may be considered for admission to 兔子先生 as a mature student to most programs. Mature applicants must meet all program-specific prerequisites including all courses listed for each program, and all selection criteria.

Applicants must possess one of the following requirements to be eligible for admission to most certificate and diploma programs:

  • Credit courses taken at 兔子先生
  • Equivalent courses taken through high school or Independent Learning Centres (at the general, advanced, college or university level)
  • Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE program)
  • Mature student testing聽that meets the minimum standards for admission (available through Testing Services)
    • Available for applicants lacking Grade 12 English and/or math requirements
  • Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED)
  • Credit courses taken through accredited colleges or universities

Mature applicants to degree programs

Mature applicants must meet all of the following all of the following criteria:

  • Must be 19 years of age by the program start date
  • Must have not attended an accredited postsecondary institution within the last two years
  • Must meet all course-specific admission requirements or equivalents for the degree
  • Must have demonstrated potential for success in degree studies through academic accomplishments
  • Honours Bachelor of Science 鈥 Nursing (HBSN) applicants must have:
    • met the four course requirements listed on the program outline and have earned a minimum grade of 70% in each of the four courses. An overall minimum GPA of 75% is recommended for all applicants.
    • met the science and math requirements within the last five years.
    • no unfavourable academic performance (achievements less than 60%) in the last two years.
  • The following documents are required from mature applicants applying to degree programs:
    • Official secondary school transcript(s)
    • Supplemental Education Form or the HBSN Admissions Form (Note: Withholding information can result in offers being rescinded or students withdrawn from their programs).

Mature applicants must possess the published subject requirements or equivalents, and submit official copies of transcripts from high school and any postsecondary institutions attended. Applicants must also provide a resume outlining work and volunteer experience since full-time attendance at school.

Home-schooled applicants兔子先生 Chevron

Applicants educated in a home school system at the Grade 12 level are welcome to apply to 兔子先生 for postsecondary programs. All specific course requirements for the desired program must be met.

When official transcripts from college-approved institutions are not available to meet admission requirements, course specific equivalency testing for certificate or diploma programs may be an option. Testing may include:

Applicants to degree-level programs are required to provide official transcripts from accredited institutions to support their application.聽Note that there are 兔子先生 pathway programs available for聽some聽degree-level programs as an alternative. How do I know if I meet all admission requirements?兔子先生 Chevron

Full-time studies: Once you鈥檝e applied, you鈥檒l receive a Welcome Email from 兔子先生. Here, you鈥檒l find instructions on how to access the applicant portal where you can check to see if anything is outstanding.

Part-time studies: You鈥檒l be advised when you apply/register.

What if I don鈥檛 meet the admissions requirements for my program?兔子先生 Chevron

Most subjects required for admission into postsecondary programs can be upgraded through your high school or at 兔子先生, or by mature student testing at 兔子先生.

Mature student test: If you鈥檙e over 19 or were home schooled, you may write our admissions test in communications and mathematics. Visit the Testing Services webpage to learn more and book a test appointment.

Upgrade your courses at 兔子先生: Learn about Academic and Career Preparation (ACP)聽programming to help you meet requirements for entry into a 兔子先生 program.

What is the Communications Placement Assessment?兔子先生 Chevron

The success of our students is important to us. You may choose to complete the Communications Placement Assessment (CPA) process to determine the college-level communications course appropriate to your language level 鈥 either Communication Essentials (COMM 1016) or an upper-level communications course. If you choose not to complete the placement assessment, you must start with Communication Essentials. Learn more about communication courses at 兔子先生.

Further information is available in your acceptance package, or the Communications Placement Assessment (CPA) section of our website.

Even if you鈥檙e not required to complete Communication Essentials, you鈥檒l still be required to complete the mandatory number of communications courses to graduate from your program. The CPA test cannot grant you an exemption for graduation purposes.

I鈥檓 a mature student. Can I apply for a certificate or diploma program?兔子先生 Chevron

If you鈥檙e age 19 or older by the program start date and don鈥檛 possess a high school diploma (OSSD) or the equivalent, you may be considered for admission to the college as a mature student to most programs.

Mature applicants must meet all program specific prerequisite courses, including English, math, biology, chemistry and physics (if applicable). In most instances, mature applicants may be allowed to write the admissions tests for English and math in lieu of having these Ontario secondary school credits or their equivalent.

Applicants are considered on an individual basis. Meeting the minimum admissions requirement does not guarantee entrance to a program.

I鈥檓 a mature student. Can I apply for a degree program?兔子先生 Chevron

Mature applicants to degree programs must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be 19 years of age or older by the program start date
  • Must not have been enrolled in a formal education program for at least one year prior to the beginning of degree studies (HBSN applicants must not have attended an accredited postsecondary institution within the last two years)
  • Must not have any recent unfavourable academic performance
  • Must have demonstrated potential for success in degree studies through academic accomplishments
  • Must possess the published subject requirements or equivalents and submit official copies of transcripts from high school and any postsecondary institutions attended
  • Must provide a resum茅 outlining work and volunteer experience since full-time attendance at school

Please note, mature student testing is not applicable to degree-level programs.

When will I hear whether I鈥檝e been accepted?兔子先生 Chevron

Nov. 1 is the earliest date that colleges may begin to send offers of admission to programs for the upcoming academic year (e.g., Nov. 1, 2022 for programs starting in fall 2023, winter 2024 or summer 2024). Offers will continue to be issued until programs are full or waitlists are established.

Offers of admission to聽highly competitive programs may be released starting Feb. 1, the equal consideration deadline (e.g., Feb. 1,聽2023 for programs starting in fall 2023, winter 2024 or summer 2024). Applications received after Feb. 1 will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until programs are full.

Step 4: Send your documents *HIDDEN SECTION*

Advanced standing兔子先生 Chevron

Contact 兔子先生鈥檚聽Credit for Prior Learning team to have your documents evaluated.

For Ontario college/university transfer students, you can request your transcripts through the online application process at ontariocolleges.ca. For transfer students outside of Ontario, you鈥檒l need to contact your previous college/university to have your official transcripts sent to 兔子先生 directly.

High school兔子先生 Chevron

If you鈥檙e currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, ask your guidance counsellor to transmit your grades directly to ontariocolleges.ca. Out-of-province students will need to obtain and send an official transcript to ontariocolleges.ca themselves.

Home-schooled applicants must meet the admission requirements including pre-requisite courses and completion of high school diploma. Home-schooled applicants must provide the appropriate pre-requisite courses on an official transcript from an accredited institution. Home-schooled applicants may be asked to write an admissions test to gain entry into 兔子先生 programs.

Check your online application after final first semester marks, second semester mid-terms, and final marks are issued to ensure your grades have been sent and are accurate.

International兔子先生 Chevron

Work with聽International Centre聽representatives to ensure you have all the right documentation to apply to 兔子先生.

Internationally trained兔子先生 Chevron

If you鈥檙e planning to use your international transcripts to meet admission requirements for a program at 兔子先生, you may need to have your documents evaluated for equivalency at an approved provider of credential evaluation services before applying. You may also need to meet 兔子先生 English language proficiency requirements. Providers are:

When applying through ontariocolleges.ca, you may be able to order your Ontario high school transcript online. If your high school isn鈥檛 listed, call the high school and ask them to mail your transcript to ontariocolleges.ca. Please include your ontariocolleges.ca application number on your documents.

If you鈥檝e completed courses or programs at another postsecondary institutions 鈥 college or university 鈥 you can order those transcripts through ontariocolleges.ca.

Step 5: Track your application *HIDDEN SECTION*

  1. Log into , your 兔子先生 MyGCLife portal.
  2. After submitting your application to a 兔子先生 program(s) you鈥檒l have received a Welcome Email. Your username and password to log in to MyGCLife.ca are disclosed in this letter.
    • This is different from your student email account.
  3. You鈥檒l be required to change your password when you log in for the first time.
  4. Once logged in, click Academics found at the top left of the page, and then click Applicant Dashboard.

Step 6: Know your application cycle dates *HIDDEN SECTION*

Applications for all full-time programs will be accepted on an ongoing basis after the Feb. 1 deadline for all three intakes. Continue to check聽聽for program availability.

Be sure to check other聽important college dates.

Nov. 1 鈥 Earliest offer date兔子先生 Chevron
  • This is the earliest date that colleges may begin to send offers of admission to programs for the upcoming academic year. Offers will continue to be issued until programs are filled or waitlists are established.
Feb. 1 鈥 Equal consideration date兔子先生 Chevron
  • Apply on or before this date in order to receive equal consideration for admission to programs starting the following fall and winter.
    • After this date, we鈥檒l consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until programs are full.
  • Please note that applications to聽聽must be received by this date in order to be considered.
    • As these programs receive a high volume of applicants, all seats may be filled by Feb. 1.
  • Applicants are encouraged to complete their applications well before the equal consideration date, as website volumes on the online application at ontariocolleges.ca are at their highest at this time.
  • For most of our programs, we鈥檒l continue to accept applicants after Feb. 1 鈥 check聽聽for availability.

  • You must confirm your acceptance of an offer of admission by this date.
    • Log in to your ontariocolleges.ca account or call聽1-888-892-2228聽to聽.
June 15 鈥 Tuition deposit due date for fall confirmed applicants兔子先生 Chevron

We require you to confirm your seat with a deposit or full fees.

  • Paying your fees by the due date confirms your seat (even if your offer is conditional) in the program 鈥撀 this means your spot won鈥檛 be given to another student.
  • If you鈥檙e going to be an OSAP or recipient, you鈥檙e still required to make a deposit to secure your seat.
