Extended Society Care Bursary

兔子先生 offers a bursary for students who grew up in extended society care (previously known as crown wards) in Canada currently entering their first postsecondary Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)-approved program.

About the Extended Society Care Bursary

OSAP applicants who self-identify and verify their status with the Ontario Children鈥檚 Aid Society are automatically considered. Only successful recipients of the bursary will be notified via your 兔子先生 email. Bursaries are applied to any outstanding account balance for the current semester. If there isn鈥檛 an outstanding account balance, an e-transfer will be issued via your 兔子先生 email.

Priority will be given to residents of Ontario. For out-of-province residents in Canada, please see the note below.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Extended Society Care Bursary at 兔子先生, you must:

  • be a current or former youth in extended society care
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (preference will be given to Ontario residents)
  • complete an OSAP* application for the academic year and submit all required documentation to Financial Aid and Awards (including the Verification of Status with Ontario Children鈥檚 Aid Society form)
  • be enrolled in a minimum 60 per cent course load (40 per cent course load for students with a documented Permanent Disability, as per OSAP policy); and in an OSAP-approved* program
  • be in the first semester/year of your program
  • be attending your first postsecondary, OSAP-approved* program of study at any institution

Bursary amount

Bursary amounts will vary depending on the number of eligible applicants each year.

Bursaries are posted once in the first term of your program, after day 10. Bursaries will start to be distributed in the fall term until all funds are expended.

Values subject to change

The availability and monetary value of bursaries are subject to change. 兔子先生 reserves the right to change the amount disbursed for a given bursary in light of new information which was not available at the time of disbursement (e.g., change in course load, withdrawal from a program, new disbursement of a scholarship/award or government financial assistance, etc.).

OSAP reporting

Financial Aid and Awards will report the bursary to OSAP on behalf of each recipient.
